Fee Claerhout's Profile

"Fee Claerhout is a pen name, Fee, meaning fairy, is a nickname given to me by a dear loved one, and Claerhout is the maiden name of my Great-Grandmother. I am proud of being a third generation American, my great-grandparents both coming from Belgium. My name is Monica Herman, and I wanted to not only create a pen name to honor those who are part of my story, but also due to business necessity. I am proudly a small business owner, and it just felt right to create a separate name to keep my different projects separate and unique from one another.
I wanted to write a story based on my childhood in rural Michigan during the 1990's, where I found great joy in the simple things, nature, and gratitude for family and God. My faith has shaped my life, but above all it has taught me the importance of love, kindness, and sharing the gifts we each uniquely have with the world. Falling Asleep Counting My Blessings is a collection of memories and pure imagination. My greatest teacher was my Grandma Moomsie. She taught me to always find the joy in each day, each moment, and the importance of acceptance, forgiveness, and understanding. To dance, sing, and laugh on days of sun and rain, and to know Jesus and angels are with us always. Love you, Grandma, and thank you to all that have supported me every step of the way. I love you all." - Fee Claerhout, Author
